Lionsgate Films' The Bank Job

Loved it, loved it, loved it! I went to see the movie this Saturday! I love British movies, especially those along the lines of Snatch (directed by none other than Guy Ritchie, starring Brad Pitt AkA Mikey), the Velvet Revolver…

After getting past the strong British accent and trying to figure out what the hell he just said that was supposed to be funny, I apparently wasn’t the only one who enjoyed the movie since the whole theater kept clapping and laughing ! Though the reviews weren’t very nice  calling the movie boring and “unthriller”, I really liked the plot, the characters and the humour (typically British). The movie didn’t blow up the box office but the theater was completely full, and finding a place to sit was a hassle.

The movie is about a gang of UNprofessional bank robbers, amateurs who decide to rob a bank’s safe deposit boxes. The movie is not just about the bank heist per se, the robbers actually find out after the coup that they got more than they can chew when they realise some of the boxes contained secret documents from MI5, compromising photos of certain parliamentaries, the royal families and payoffs for corrupt cops. Well, I won’t tell you how it ends, let’s just say they pissed off a lot of people, the WRONG people!

Did I mention it’s based on a true story! Makes it even more exciting to watch!

Overall, I give the movie an A-/B+.

Run see it! and run rent Snatch!
